NGL One V Playday 6

Round six of the NGL One regular seasons kicks off today with an exciting match between the two veritable titans of the season WICKED eSports and Gravitas Gaming.

WICKED have had a great season so far and a difficult one at that. Having to take on Gravitas, Mousesports, SK and Beijing E-sports Team within a six week period is no easy task and WICKED passed with flying colours, however with the announcement of FiveStar’s desire to retire WICKED could see this freshly laid foundation begin to crumble at their feet.

WICKED have a team full of championship potential with the night elf duo of SouthSea and of course Soccer, who recently finished fourth at the KODE5 Global Finals. TeRRoR is fast becoming an undead user to fear and FiveStar was improving by leaps and bounds daily until his confusing announcement. An announcement which was quickly refuted by WICKED’s management, but it was later revealed he is in fact struggling with some personal issues.

It’s unclear whether or not this will affect FiveStar’s performance, but we can be sure if it does then it’s going to leave a gaping hole in WICKED’s line-up. They are sitting comfortably near the top of the rankings, but there’s a long way to go and a string of bad performances will most definitely result in a fall from grace.

Gravitas likewise have had an impressive seasons so far. This is Gravitas’ first season in the NGL One division and although they were expected to perform well, it’s quite a surprise to see them top of the board six weeks in.

XyLigan continues to be the metaphorical cherry on top of Gravitas’ tasty cake. A team doing this well in a major international league without one Asian player is pure pleasure for European fans, the Four Kings of Russia some might say. XyLigan recently attended the KODE5 Global Finals where his potential was cut short when he met the inevitible winner InFi in the first round of brackets. It’s unfortunate XyLigan couldn’t make it further in the event, but that’s life.

XyLigan and HoT make up the powerful core of Gravitas while the more inconsistent players Rob and TitaN are supporting players. Both Rob and TitaN are tough competitors and by the end of the season I expect we’ll see two completely different players, but until now Rob especially has been pretty inconsistent. As is always the case should he be in the zone on any given day then Rob won’t think twice about destroying your entire team, but until he figures out how to tap that zone more frequently he’s not utilizing his full potential.
