ToD splits with Mousesports

Yoan “ToD” Merlo has officially parted ways with the German based Mousesports, after spending nine months with the team.

The official announcement states that the player’s contract had expired and both parties agreed it would be best to move on.

This is the second player to part with the team in as many months, Kim “SaSe” Hammar was also parted with the team last month.

The rest of the international squad, consisting of Wei Liang “Fly100%” Lu, Dmitriy “Happy” Kostin and Dennis “HasuObs” Schneider will remain with the team, no mention was made of JianKai “Yumiko” Yu.

Mousesports is currently short two players of an eligible WC3L team and being that they are holding on to the rest of the team, it’s quite likely Mousesports will pick up another two players in the coming weeks.

About him joining Mousesports, Merlo said in an interview that he was partial to joining a team where he would make a difference, a team he could help improve upon. Whether or not he still desires a “fixer-upper” is unknown however, there are still a large portion of top tier teams without a powerful human player. MeetYourMakers and SK Gaming are both competing without any kind of human support while fnatic and Mortal Team Work are utilizing players with potential, but as of yet, quite inexperienced.

Merlo was thankful for his time in Mousesports, “All good things come to an end, and today in parting ways with mouz, i had a really good time in the team and would like to wish them the best of luck,” as he explained.

Mousesports had been footing the bill for Merlo’s prolonged residency in China, he has since moved “I just moved to Korea,” he said, “and I’m not certain of what’s coming next for me.” It’s quite likely Merlo will now be looking for a team with the financial strength to keep him in either China or Korea, where he’s able to practice adequately.

It’s unlikely Merlo will stay a free agent for long, we can expect an announcement regarding his new team quite soon.
