The ESWC South Korean qualifier concluded this morning with June “Lyn” Park and Seo Woo “ReiGn” Kang of SK Gaming coming out victorious.
Kang managed to eliminate Du-Seop “WhO” Chang of Mortal Team Work to qualify for the finals, a surprising outcome given Chang’s recent results. Park qualified after defeating Deok Man “SocceR” Youn, his second elimination in as many hours having been eliminated from the WCG qualifier amateur group by WhO the same day.
South Korea is set to make a significant impact at the grand finals later this year with five representatives, the most of any country, attending. In addition to Park and Kang, Seong Deok “SoJu” Lee will also be representing team and country at the finals having been invited back automatically as defending champion.
Chang already managed to qualify for the finals through the ESWC Masters of Paris event where he placed fourth along with MYM’s Jae Ho “Moon” Jang who came in first.
South Korea is now by far the most likely candidate to walk away with the title. The ESWC grand final will be held from the 25th to 27th of August in San Jose, California.
