fnatic acquire ViOlet

Fnatic E-Sports announced today the acquisition of Dong-hwan “ViOlet” Kim, a talented young orc from South Korea.

Kim 18, caught fnatic’s eye while competing in their Korean Amateur Challenge, an online tournament featuring sixteen of South Korea’s most promising up-and-comers. He went on to win the event, dropping only two maps throughout the process.

Kim was part of the NGTV team that appears to have disbanded after a failed attempt to qualify for the WC3L, he has since been competing under WeRRa.

The young Korean, having already befriended members of the team, jumped at the opportunity to join the ranks of fnatic, “I am very happy to join fnatic, it will be a real challenge for me in the new team to get to know the players even better. I am already friends with some of them and they are all very good players. I am looking forward to making friends with all of them and increasing our team spirit,” as he explains.

Fellow orc, now teammate Hyosub “FoCuS” Eom had this to say of the occasion, “I am really happy that violet joined us. He is so young, but his skill is really amazing. I am sure, he will grow up his skill and become the best orc of Korea.”

Kim’s abilities towered over those of his competitors in the Amateur Challenge, his game versus orc is especially strong, now under the tutelage of Eom, one of the top orcs in South Korea, his performance is sure to improve.

Fnatic Warcraft manager Elroy “Noname” Pinto states that Kim will not be tossed into the deep end from the get go, “It’s not been a hasty decision and doesn’t affect how our lineup would look in a WC3L game,” he explains

“But from a point of view of the community and WarCraft 3 we feel such an addition brings something unique to the community and could give hope to the younger players from Korea to develop their skills as well and not feel left out.”

It’s quite probable we’ll see ViOlet competing as a solo player, or with Daeduck “Kei” Yoon and Si Young “Yange” Kim in the WPL regular season before we find him complementing fnatic’s WC3L roster.
