BlizzCon 08 American Qualifier

The qualifier event for the 2008 BlizzCon Finals jump starts tomorrow from Madrid, Spain for European competitors and Boston, Massachusetts for the American contenders. The Korean qualifier concluded last week with Hyeong Ju “Check” Lee of mTw, June “Lyn” Park and Sung Sik “ReMinD” Kim, both of SK Gaming, walking away victorious.

The European qualifier event is one of immense anticipation as fans eagerly await the momentary return of the previous year’s champion Olav “Creolophus” Undheim, who retired from professional gaming just shy of one year ago to pursue his academic interests.

Three qualifier spots have been allocated for the European qualifier while just two finalist from America will qualify for the finals. The Season VI Finals will take place between October 10th and 11th, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California at the Blizzcon event. In addition to airfare and accommodation the three finalists will be competing for a five thousand dollar first place prize.

The ESL will be on hand at the European qualifier to provide video coverage via ESLTV. Phreak will be handling the American qualifier stream on Ustream.
