WC3L XIV Playday 8
Week eight of the ESL’s WC3L commences today with the ninth and eleventh place teams, wNv and nWo, going head to head for additional points and hopefully a bump out of relegation territory.
NoWAYouT’s first WC3L season record has been marred by a streak of convincing losses, not only to veteran competitors, but challenging amatuers as well. There’s little debate as to whether or not portions of NoWAYouT’s roster shows potential, but right now the team just doesn’t seem able to translate that potential into match wins.
NoWAYouT need to start picking up points if they expect to dodge the qualifiers at the end of the season, but at this point it seems like that may be a lost cause.
Unfortunately for wNv they find themselves in a similar position to NoWAYouT, a strong roster on paper, but an inability to utilize it efficiently. The Chinese based team currently occupies the ninth rank on the big board, which would mean another qualifier campaign if they’re not able to start climbing the ranks however, there in lies an issue. Comparative to nWo for example, wNv have had a relatively comfortable set of opponents thus far in the season. With fnatic, mTw and MYM still ahead of them it looks like wNv is far more likely to start shifting down rather than up.
Both wNv and nWo are staring yet another qualifier dead in the eyes, strong performances from either team might steer them clear however, the smart money says we’ll be seeing both in the qualifier bracket next season.
NoWAYouT were only able to qualify for this season after several already qualified teams had dropped out. They might not have as much luck next season.
